Our Mission

Who We Are

Our Workshops

At Small Bites Nutrition, we are dedicated to educating local students in the Gainesville community about the importance of healthy eating habits and how they can transform their lives with the power of nutrition. Our team of UF students is passionate about sharing their knowledge and experience to help others lead healthier and happier lives.

Our Impact

Through our nutrition and cooking workshops, we plan to reach students of the Extended Day Enrichment Program at C.B Parker Elementary and other schools in the Ganesville communitiy to provide them with the tools and knowledge they need to make healthier choices in their daily lives. Our impact extends beyond the workshops, as we strive to create a culture of health and wellness in our community through UF organization partnerships.

Our Partners

We work with local organizations and businesses to promote healthy eating habits and fundraise for workshop ingrediants and materials. Our partners include UF Honors Gators For Gainesville, The PattyCake Foundation, the Extended Day Enrichment Program at C.B Parker Elementary, and Common Threads Nonprofit among others.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

As educated college students who learn more every day about cultures, ethnicities, languages, religions, and geographic origins beyond our own, we acknowledge these factors have incredible impacts on the foods people prepare and enjoy. Food has a strong connection to not only our mental and physical health but also our identity. Despite its importance, areas of food disparity remain prominent throughout the country-especially in our own Gainesville community. We aim to support the youth and conversely the people in our community in achieving healthier diets by addressing health misconceptions, educating about nutritional basics, and demonstrating realistic recipes students can bring back to their families. We by no means aim to demonize certain food groups or types of cuisine, but rather strive to show students ways to incorporate nutritious foods into their lifestyles.

In reality, health outcomes where children, adults, and families face systemic disparity that has shaped their local food systems and resources are minimally within our control. We strive to educate our volunteers on this issue and recruit volunteers from different backgrounds who can help our cause from a place of compassion. This small effort of education can have lasting impacts on our community's health and beyond.
